  1. 1.Definition of initial separation speed: The speed at which the contact first separates (usually within 6mm (10kV)/10mm (35kV) after initial separation or within 10ms at the moment of contact separation). Function: Determine the arc extinguishing ability. The vacuum arc extinguishing chamber needs sufficient speed to elongate the arc at the moment of contact separation to ensure rapid arc extinguishing; Low speed can easily cause arc reignition and disconnection failure, while high speed can increase mechanical impact and contact wear. Reference range value: Commonly used 10kV vacuum circuit breaker with a speed of 1.0~1.6 m/s, subject to product technical specifications.

Definition of average opening speed: the ratio of displacement and time of the moving contact in the specified travel segment during the opening process; Due to the influence of the buffering mechanism, the effective travel segment before the buffering takes effect is usually used for calculation, rather than the entire process. Formula (automatically calculated by the tester): Average speed=specified travel segment ÷ opening motion time Function: reflects the overall output and motion stability of the operating mechanism (such as opening spring, connecting rod); Abnormally low values may indicate spring fatigue, jamming, and excessive damping, while high values require checking the buffer or spring preload force. Reference range value: The average opening speed of commonly used 10kV vacuum circuit breakers is 0.8-1.2 m/s, subject to the product technical specifications.

Summarizing that the initial opening speed is the core indicator of the opening performance, which directly determines the success or failure of the disconnection; The average speed is an auxiliary indicator of the status of the mechanism, used for troubleshooting and maintenance. The on-site testing of the initial speed should be based on the product technical specifications, and priority should be given to using 10ms or short stroke measurement methods specified by the manufacturer to ensure accurate data. Just remember this sentence on site: as soon as the speed is qualified, there is basically no problem with opening the switch; If the speed is low, make sure to adjust the spring/mechanism first.
