American standard 38kV environmentally friendly distribution equipment
Both the state of London and California in the United States are implementing SF6 bans as planned to control temperature rise effect gas emissions.
Shi Enxi Electric (S&C) North American standard C37.74 standard pad type and buried current breaking distribution switchgear adopts CO2 and 3M ™ Novec ™ The mixed gas insulation technology of 4710 gas reduces the carbon dioxide equivalent emissions (CO2e) of the product by 97% compared to switchgear using SF6 technology. This application uses the same SF6 alternative gas g3 solution as GE high voltage, which is a mixture of C4 and CO2 gas.

The maximum parameters of this product can reach ANSI 38kV 600A 60Hz 25kA and IEC 36kV 50Hz 25kA, and the external dimensions are consistent with the equipment using SF6 technology. The anti arc design of the 3-station switch increases safety, and the visible isolation fracture of the vacuum disconnection is visible

Vista Green ring main unit provides more obvious fracture clearance and grounding position. The opening, closing, and grounding positions are immediately visible, right below the large observation window. In addition, the simplified fault breaking design uses a three position switch with electric arc rotating contacts to perform all breaking tasks, thereby achieving an extremely simple operation sequence.
The Vista series offers a variety of structural types, including Pad Mounted and UnderCover, which are commonly found in the North American market ™ (Underground ground operation) Vault-Mounted, Underground ground operation is convenient, and different structures such as dry/wet are designed according to the water conditions of the ground area
At the same time, it also provides a wind turbine type single circuit switch with a width of only 610mm and a movable switch device for harsh environments. Vista and Vista SD switchgear help utility companies reduce their use of SF6 gas to reduce their total carbon footprint and achieve sustainable development goals. Vista SD switchgear uses solid insulation materials;

Vista switchgear now offers a green design that does not use SF6 gas;
Vista Green Design uses vacuum circuit breakers and 3M ™ Novec ™ 4710 insulating gas. The COe of these design options is 97% lower than that of SF6 gas Vista switchgear. Considering the carbon dioxide generated during the manufacturing process and the entire lifecycle of the product, the total carbon footprint of Vista Green Design is lower than other alternatives to buried switchgear, much lower than the carbon dioxide emissions equivalent of oil insulated switchgear and solid insulated switchgear. At the same time, it has all the operational and design advantages of SF6 gas Vista switchgear, with an insulation gas carbon dioxide equivalent of only 3% of SF6.
The current air insulation or N2 insulation solutions are generally used for 24kV and below, with few applications for 40.5kV. Generally, 40.5kV switchgear adopts an enlarged external size/uniform electric field design for all conductive circuits, or uses internal solid insulation to replace gas. In fact, there are still many carbon emissions during the product generation process.
The insulation strength of pure 4710 is about twice that of SF6 (depending on the pressure). By mixing with CO2, the liquefaction temperature can be reduced to minus 30 degrees Celsius. A mixture of 6% 4710 and 94% CO2 can achieve an insulation capacity of 90% for SF6 gas. C4 (4710) and CO2 mixed gas can be directly replaced as insulation gas without changing the original SF6 switchgear structure, with better cost-effectiveness.
The operating mechanism of VISTA buried distribution switchgear is maintenance free, and the cost of the switchgear is only 10% higher than the total installation and 20-year maintenance cost of the front door panel load switch fuse switchgear.
After the equipment is in operation, there is no need for maintenance, cleaning, or component replacement. The total cost of a 20-year service life is not high, and a longer service life brings more benefits.
